Darwin’s Pâté Launches on You Tube

DARWIN'S PÂTÉ, A DARK SOUTHERN GOTHIC TALE OF SECRETS, BETRAYAL AND REVENGE, LAUNCHES ON YOU TUBE

Premiering January 21st and running through 2008

(Los Angeles, CA) – Darwin Entertainment announces the launch of Darwin’s Pâté on You Tube. Darwin’s Pâté was shot over a period of five days In Los Angeles. The webisodes will premiere Monday, Jan. 21st, 2008 and there will be a new episode every Monday.

“After an extended nine-week theatrical run we decided to film the play,” Explains producer Frank Forte, “ we got some great angles and captured some of the important performances in close-up.”

“We are currently approaching production companies and investors to fund an independent film based on the play, says writer Elizabeth J. Musgrave, “We are shopping the play around to small off-Broadway theater companies. A graphic novel is currently in production.”

Acclaimed graphic novelist and animator, Frank Forte (HIHI PUFFY AMI YUMI, KID NOTORIOUS, THE MR. MEN SHOW) produced and designed the production. Composer Walter Werzowa, founder of Musikvergnuegen, whose recent compositions include those for Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott, designed the sound. Mark Landsman (director, FX series, 30 DAYS; and the award-winning AFI short film, SKYLAB) directs.

The writer, Elizabeth J. Musgrave, has more than 10 plays and one feature film, EDGE OF NOWHERE, directed by Phillip McKeon (star of the sitcom classic, ALICE) to her credit. For her screenplays, she was a quarter and semi-finalist in the Chesterfield Writers Film Project, Writers' Script Network and Fade-In competitions. Additionally, she has placed in the quarter-finals for her TV spec in the Scriptapalooza contest. She also had the opportunity to work alongside legendary producer, Ray Stark, on two of her projects. She received MFA from the U. of Georgia.

The cast features Sarah Zoe Canner, star of Agnieska Holland’s upcoming film, THE TRUE STORY OF JANOSIK; the French film, PETTY CRIMES by director Michel Ferry; and starring opposite Taylor Nichols (HBO’s MIND OF THE MARRIED MAN) in the upcoming feature film, CHTHONIK, directed by Polish director Rafal Zielinski. Jules Bruff (Margaret), her most recent feature film Chronicles (Warner Brothers, David Fincher Dir.) Caren LaRae Larkey (Dorothea) from Critical Condition, Beau Baxter (John) known for his supporting role in Crazy, based on life story of Hank Garland, and Ed Ellington (Vernon) known for his role in Fuzzy wars of Assertion.

Darwin’s Pâté can be seen at: www.youtube.com/darwinspate
The official Darwin’s Pâté website is: www.darwinspate.com

Darwin’s Pâté, the play, had an extended nine week run at the Pan Andreas Theatre in Los Angeles, from February to April of 2006.

Darwin’s Pâté quotes:

"Director Mark Landsman and an extremely talented cast keep the lid rattling on Musgrave’s highly watchable potboiler."-- LA Times

"Highly entertaining…Recommended"--Metro LA

“… a surrealistic window into the revenge filled soul of an agoraphobic heroine.” -- Backstage West
"…dark and dramatic…" --Campus Circle

"Bruff is terrific as a fastidiously manipulative phony, backed up by Baxter as the trained male whose leash she knows how to yank." --LA Weekly

"Sarah Zoe Canner gives a valiant and remarkable performance as daughter Bonnie -- Ed Ellington is wonderful as Vernon--" -- Larchmont Chronicle
"Southern hospitality has its price." --LA SPLASH

" Darwin’s Pâté was supposedly inspired by the works of Tennessee Williams, Sam Shepard, and David Lynch. Adding a bit of twisted humor to the mix, one has a tragic comedy, and they don't come any better than this one!!" -- Accessibly Live

“ it's a deliciously poisonous entrée" --Robert Steven Rhine -- Award winning author ("My Brain Escapes Me," "Satan’s Circus of Hell, Girl’s and Corpses")

“Darwin’s Pâté is a tale that descends into a madness of bottomless depths.” --Feo Amante

ASYLUM PRESS RELEASES DTOX TRAILER

DTOX# 0 SHIPS DECEMBER THRU DIAMOND

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Asylum Press releases DTOX trailer

Asylum Press, publisher of cutting edge graphic novels, announces the release of the first online trailer for DTOX: SPECIAL BIOHAZARD EDITION No.0

.
Releasing in December, DTOX: SPECIAL BIOHAZARD EDITION, introduces a new character to the Asylum Universe. DTOX is presented in a magazine size format. DTOX is written by Frank Forte (Warlash, Undead Evil) and illustrated by Nenad Gucunja (Satan's 3-Ring Circus of Hell, Girls and Corpses).

The trailer can be seen here: www.dtoxcomic.com

Also available on the website is a full color preview, character descriptions, concept art and more.
DTOX takes place in a post-Armageddon future. The lone biohazard warrior fights to cleanse the earth of a rising toxic mutant population. Killvixen, a knife-wielding femme fatale, soon joins him. Together, armed with the mobile arsenal code-named DTANK, they travel the ravaged mid-west in search of rogue monstrosities and fuel. This 12-page action packed story introduces the world of DTOX, Killvixen and the biogeneticist, Scourge who is creating an army of disease carrying mutants. Also features a special concept art section with unused penciled pages and character design.

"DTOX is inspired by the Heavy Metal Magazine I used to read in the 1980's. Characters like Ranxerox and Den showed how far comics could really go. Pepe Moreno, Guido Crepax and Caza just blew me away. I grew tired of costumed superheroes after a while and wanted something more. I found it in the pages of Heavy Metal, " explains Frank Forte. " Now I'm giving back."

"Working on DTOX was fantastic, " says Nenad Gucunja, " I was able go off on the script and expand the scenes. Then Frank would go back and rewrite it. What came out was something fun and demented."

On Sale early February 2007
Intended Audience: Mature Readers
Retail Price: $2.95, SC, 24pgs, Full color.

ATOMIC MADHOUSE DEBUTS NEW APPAREL LINE

July 24, 2007

Atomic Madhouse Debuts Apparel Line at Comic-Con International

Atomic Madhouse explodes onto the fashion scene with eclectic retro t-shirts for adults and teens.

Los Angeles, (PRWEB) July 24, 2007 – Atomic Madhouse (www.atomicmadhouse.com), a new apparel company formed by artist Frank Forte and writer Elizabeth J. Musgrave, will feature its new line of comic book sound effects and catchphrase tees.  The new line will debut at San Diego, CA, July 25 – 29 at the San Diego Convention Center.

“We are excited about our new designs and think they appeal to a select audience.  My inspiration comes from 1950s design, Silver age comic books, animation, and punk rock posters.  I am incorporating all of my artistic background into t-shirts that I would want to wear,” says Frank.  “Elizabeth is coming up with some great slogans and catchphrases that capture the ‘now’ moments.  I take that and use a cool font, break it up, and make it look faded with a retro feel. At that point, the design part is over.  Then Elizabeth and I decide on color.  What comes out of the collaboration is very satisfying"
“T-shirts are not only great way to initiate conversation with others and express how you feel, but they also reflect what’s going on in the world.  We’re going to start on-line and then try to get the apparel line into boutiques and trendy clothing stores,” explains Elizabeth.
The new men's designs can be seen here: http://www.atomicmadhouse.com/men.html
“Our most popular line is the comic book sound effects t-shirts.  We designed the words ‘AAARRGGHH’,  ‘BLAMM’, and ‘KPOWW’ in a faded retro comic book style font and silk screened it crooked on the shirt, “ comments Frank.  “Everyone who sees them cracks a smile.”
“I’m sure our most controversial t-shirt is the ‘Rehab’ design.  The word ‘rehab’ has become part of our daily vocabulary.  At one time, that word was whispered behind closed doors.  Now, the media’s overuse of the word makes seem more like a rite-of-passage for the privileged.  It's or way of oversaturating the market” snickers Frank Forte.

The "rehab" design can be seen here: http://www.atomicmadhouse.com/shirt_women_rehab.html

JOE MONKS TO PEN HORROR TALE IN ASYLUM OF HORRORS NO.1

Monks To Pen Original Story For New Horror Anthology
Longtime friend, collaborater Frank Forte set to illustrate

Having recently agreed to terms with a UK publisher to include a story of his for publication in a January 2008 horror omnibus, Joe Monks has announced that he plans to supply an original story for Forte's upcoming Asylum of Horrors project. No release date has been set, but it looks likely that the publisher has his eye on a Fall release date.Monks and Forte have worked together numerous times in the past, beginning with Monks publishing one of Forte's short comic tales in an issue of Cry for Dawn in 1991, and Monks later writing several vampire short stories for Forte's indy title, The Vampire Verses, among other projects.

Vicious Circle, the story Monks is currently working on for the anthology, is a bit of a departure from his more recent work. "It has a '50s era feel to it, like an old EC story," says the writer/director. "But it's loaded with gore and grue. It's a fun little piece of splatter."

Monks, whose story SHUTEYE was recently picked up for publication in a forthcoming UK horror omnibus, was anxious to do something original for Asylum of Horrors. "My film, The Bunker, has been taking up all my time and resources for the past year, so the opportunity to come up with something totally original for Frank was too good an opportunity to pass up. I love working in comics, and the attention my movie is getting has brought a lot more attention to my comic book work."

While everything is in the early stages, Monks expects to have the story to Forte by July 1st, and more information about the project is forthcoming.

Twisted Animation Festival Goes to Spike TV

Hey, if you don’t sue a major media mogul for using your name or part of your name for their new channel you just may get a good deal out of it. At least that’s the case for SPIKE AND MIKE’S SICK AND TWISTED FESTIVAL OF ANIMATION (www.spikeandmike.com), which now will showcase the best of the festival’s fare in six, half-hour episodes on Viacom’s Spike TV (which had to delay the launch of the re-named channel in the legal name battle with director Spike Lee that was ultimately settled)

.
The festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year presenting quirky hand-drawn gems to elaborate computer-generated productions with a raw to finely-honed edge, is a natural for Spike TV, the first network for men. Six original episodes will be created from more than 400 animated short films. A premiere date and series host will be announced shortly.
“We’ve had incredible audience reaction and ratings success with our first foray into adult animation with THE STRIP, Spike TV’s weekly primetime animation block that features Kelsey Grammer’s GARY THE RAT, Stan Lee's STRIPPERELLA, starring Pamela Anderson and John Kricfalusi's THE REN & STIMPY ADULT PARTY CARTOON,” said Kevin Kay, evp of programming and development. “SPIKE AND MIKE’S edgy brand of animation makes it a perfect fit for our growing roster of adult animation properties.”
The Festival has debuted the work of fledgling talents who have gone on to revitalize the mainstream animation field including Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Nick Park and Peter Lord of Aardman Animations, John Lasseter, Craig McCracken (Powerpuff Girls), Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Mike Judge among many others.

Attracting 500,000 devoted fans, followers and “toon-heads” every year, this outrageous festival has become the central clearing house for visionary filmmakers and radical artists in the medium. The festival has been showcased at the International Festival of Animation at Annecy, at the Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, and even as part of the tour for the group, Korn.
Spike Decker and his late partner, Mike Gribble, helped create a cottage industry through their productions (40+ shorts films of their own) and the promotion and distribution of vanguard artists, and built an animation entity that includes merchandising, books, and best-selling videos.

According to Decker, “It’s about time someone recognized the pioneering status and potential mega-franchise that SPIKE AND MIKE represents. I salute Spike TV for having the insight and cojones to step up.”

Spike Decker and the SPIKE AND MIKE’S SICK AND TWISTED FESTIVAL OF ANIMATION are represented by Ellen Goldsmith-Vein at The Gotham Group and attorney Todd Stern at Weissmann, Wolff, Bergman, Coleman, Silverman, & Holmes, LLP.
